setting
The Pink Prism Resort is a grand 90k square foot hotel situated on a tropical beach. Everything on the island is dripping in pastel colors and cute animal prints, particularly pink ones. The technology level seems to be comparable with the 2020s. The weather is a consistently balmy 80F or so.
Across the entire resort, there are remnants of something grisly having recently happened: bloodstains are smeared on the pavement and inside the hotel, chairs and tables are toppled over, food has been left out, and various kinds of beach equipment and personal items have been abandoned mid-use.
As for the tropical wildlife you'd expect from a place like this, well...there are none. There are no birds in the sky or any kind of insects on the ground, even ants or flies. Taking a look into the water will give you a view of a beautiful, clear ocean that's almost entirely free of fish or living sea life--except for one. On occasion, a strange dark fish about the size of a dolphin can be seen swimming around the perimeter of the island.
Resort Building
Front Hall
The front hall houses the reception desk, opposite from an area holding luggage carts. On the far side of the room is the entrance to the bar, arcade, and restaurant, and a set of four elevators leading to the upper floors of the hotel. There's also a small nook where novelty items are sold. Next to the front hall is the primary staff hallway, which leads to the laundry room and the manager's office.
Bar
The double doors leading to the bar are shut and at the moment, won't budge. A careful ear may notice that the room seems to be barred from the inside.
Arcade
Off to the side is the arcade room! It has your typical Dave & Buster's style array of games, from regular arcade cabinets to skee-ball and basketball hoop-shooting games, to crane machines and even a small, colorful jungle gym. All of the machines require tokens to operate, but behind the front counter are rolls upon rolls of them. Have fun.
Restaurant
Next to the arcade is a garden-variety Mediterranean restaurant. It offers a modest selection of food on its menu, and also has an ice cream bar.
Second Floor
On the second floor of the resort are the regular hotel rooms! They're about as fancy as you would expect from a big, swanky resort, some being smaller rooms with two queen beds, a kitchen, and a bathroom off to the side; others are much fancier, with a separated living room, a private hot tub, and a window with a nice view of the beach.
Feel free to pick whichever room you'd like, as there won't be any assigned rooming. However, some rooms still have the luggage of their former occupants in them: suitcases, clothing strewn aside, half-read books, opened shampoo bottles in the bathroom, even medication bottles on the nightstand.
Third Floor
On the third floor are the master suites! These are about as fancy as a hotel room could possibly get, complete with personal balconies. They also feature extremely spacious rooms, multiple bathrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen, among other things. One of the master suites is locked, but the others are up for grabs!
Outside
Beach
Wrapped around the resort building in a semicircle is a sandy-white beach and a seemingly limitless expanse of ocean. There are no visible barriers keeping the characters here, but swimming out in the distance will yield finding another island! ....or not, it's just the other side of the island that you've circled back to.
A single chlorinated pool is available to swim in on the upper decks of the beach, for those who don't want to brave the ocean, with pool supplies and spacious deck furniture present.
Further down on the sand, is the beach proper. Bag chairs, small tables, and umbrellas for the sun are prominent features, as well as booths for changing into swimsuits and a snack bar. Floating just offshore in a roped-in area is a plethora of very cute water inflatables. Other features are beach-standard things like a lifeguard chair at regular intervals and beach sports equipment.
Docks
A paved pathway connects the front entrance of the hotel down a hill and to an expansive series of docks. There are no boats to be seen, though there are plenty of boat maintenance supplies, including some suspiciously cut ropes that are wrapped around the wooden poles.
Forest
On the portion of the island that isn't part of the beach is a heavily forested area, with dense trees that don't quite seem appropriate for the tropical region. At the moment, attempting to explore the forest beyond about six feet or so will result in characters getting disoriented and turned around, ultimately having them emerge from the trees exactly where they started.
Lighthouse
Off to the side of the island in the far distance is a lighthouse. Looking at it from one of the hotel balconies offers a slightly better view, but at this point, it's so far away that it's impossible to make out many of the details. Its light does not turn on at night.
